Thank you for being a Walking Star and helping raise over $2million for a cancer free future. It’s been a fantastic event bringing thousands of Victorians together to walk through the heart of Melbourne in support of people with cancer. But like many good things, sadly Walking Stars has come to an end.
It has been so magical to see all our Walking Stars - dressed in glitter and fairy lights and glow sticks and fancy dress – come together to show support, honour loved ones, and fundraise. However, we’ve also had challenges of bad weather, COVID, and most recently, rapidly rising costs. Unfortunately these cost increases mean we can’t hold the event again.
While we are sad to say goodbye to this event, there are still many ways you can continue making a real difference for people with cancer. Find out more about our other campaigns here.
Thank you again for supporting Cancer Council Victoria.

Why we walk
Walking Stars raise vital funds to help make sure that people facing cancer have the best possible support and treatment, and we need your help now more than ever.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on cancer research, and calls to our 13 11 20 support line have quadrupled.
Katherine, a mother of two, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2018. When she tested positive to COVID-19 while immune compromised and in remission in January 2022, she called Cancer Council’s 13 11 20 information and support line.
“The nurses are awesome," she said. “They’re easy to talk to and they help with almost any question you have.”
Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future.
When you take part in Walking Stars, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
