Every day in Victoria, 98 people are diagnosed with cancer. That’s one person every 15 minutes.
We ensure that no Victorian has to face cancer alone. Our support services are free and 100% funded by generous supporters. We also fund life-saving cancer treatments and prevention programs.
Walking Stars is a fun and inspiring event that spreads hope for a cancer-free future and raises vital funds to help make that a reality.
As a Walking Star, every dollar you raise can have a life-changing impact on cancer patients and those around them.
Just $60 can help give 30 schools an information guide to use when someone is affected by cancer.
$360 can pay for the collection and processing of three blood samples that will help us discover more about how cancer develops.
By registering to be a Walking Star and creating a team with your friends and family, you will experience a unique Melbourne event that is bright, fun and above all, an inspiring way to support people facing cancer.
Jessica’s life turned upside down when her husband was diagnosed with cancer, but she found hope in Walking Stars. “It just sounded like a great idea – something that was fun and non-competitive, but something that was still going to be really challenging.”
Jessica’s husband Russ sadly passed away from brain cancer, so she walked in his honour. “In the past, I’ve tended to keep [Russ’ story] to myself, because when I was in the middle of it, I didn’t want to really talk about it,”
The mother of one has learned a few things through Walking Stars. “I think sharing my story was the most important thing for my fundraising. It was amazing how it spread through work colleagues and extended networks – that has been so surprising and wonderful,” shared Jessica.
