I’m walking to help people facing cancer
Those who know me, know what a difficult 12 months I have had.
Personally affected by cancer when late last year my wife and partner for this event, had a heart attack. The heart attack was caused from stress on her body from a bowel blockage. The blockage turned out to be two kinds of Lymphatic cancer.
Rounds of chemo and recovery overlapping a global pandemic and two infection waves and lockdowns, where we managed to keep our noses clean.
My chosen route will be a combination of walking routes that we traversed with our much loved and recently departed fur baby who suddenly succumbed to liver and kidney disease. He was our rock when we were stuck interstate for three weeks for heart and bowel surgeries before we could be transferred home. Through recovery, he was by her side every step of the way until sudden illness took him away.
This year is for Michelle and #Lbdog.
The I’m shining bright for people facing cancer and walking 21km over one weekend with Walking Stars.
Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.
Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.
Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my walk, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
