My friend Daniela and I are taking on the 21km Walking Stars challenge this December – it’s going to be one special day to make a difference!

The stats on cancer diagnosis are crazy, with one diagnosed every 15 minutes. In February this year, that 'one' was my Mum. You hear lots about cancer, but nothing really prepares you until you/your family are dealt that card.  

Donning sneakers, sweatbands and a smile we're heading out for our first half marathon to raise funds to help cure cancer. 

We've done zero training in the lead up to this event - we figure cancer doesn't give you a chance to prepare, so we'll tackle this challenge head on, just like the many cancer patients are forced to do. 

Special shout out to our healthcare nurses and oncologists, and my family and friends have been amazing - I take my hat off to all that have lovingly supported Mum.  

Every step we take is for Mum, for those suffering,  and for family and friends who have lost their battle to cancer.
